How to Survive a Convention

Conventions can be a lot of fun. They can also be stressful, especially if you are not prepared. Here’s a quick look at a few steps to help your convention run smoothly:

Food and Water: It seems like a no-brainer. Obviously, you still need to eat and drink during a convention, but you might be surprised how quickly you forget. Conventions can be lots of fun with back to back events and things to see for days on end. Wanting to get your money’s worth is normal mentality when it comes to conventions. However, at may conventions, you can’t do and see everything. There is simply not enough time. Trying to do everything will leave you forgetting to do the simple things like staying hydrated.

: At the very least, get plenty of before the convention starts. It may be too much to ask to get 8 hours of every night during the convention. If you can manage to get enough each night, your well-being will thank you for It.

Batteries: In the futuristic year of 2018, people use smartphones constantly. Perhaps you will feel more naked if walk outside without your phone than you would without your pants. Depending on the convention you attend, outlets to charge your phone may be few and far between, and you may be competing for them with the 10,000 people that were not prepared. But, you are not one of those unprepared people, because you have an external battery charger with you.

Schedule: There is way too much to do. Any half decent convention will have a schedule of events. Make a plan for all the things you want to attend, but don’t expect to keep the entire schedule.

Travel Light: You don’t want to wear yourself out hauling around a suitcase for days. One backpack should be enough space to carry the essentials. Just remember to get in the habit of putting your backpack on your lap when you sit down so you don’t end up leaving it behind.
